With Microsoft's new Kinect Sports: Season Two sprinting out on
the shelves Holiday 2011, we were required to create a dynamic
and fast pace, 45 second game trailer to explore the 6 new sports
and exciting new features of Kinect technology.
Working closely with the co-developers Rare & Big Park, our brief
was to create a stimulating montage video, featuring the brand
new sports: golf, baseball, skiing, darts, tennis and football.
We were asked to design a series of transitions using motion
graphics to introduce each sport, link the scenes together and
created a stunning cinematic, capturing the energy and excitement
of the winning moments for each sport.
To be representative of the in game action which was still in
development whilst we were producing the trailer, by using/adding
to the in-game graphics we created the six epic environments all
of which had to portray a different energy and atmosphere. Using
in game avatar characters, we used a mixture of motion capture
and key frame animation, the main challenge being for us to
create the tens of thousands of spectators in the Stadium scenes.
The result was a fast paced, lively and energetic trailer which
really captured the excited and immersive experience of Kinect
Sports.
